A downloadable game for Windows and macOS

ASB stands for long, turn-based space strategy matched for 1 to 4 players.

Who builds the biggest interplanetary empire and prevails over the other players and the aggressive mutants?

Two distinct game modes are available: In the Classic Version, a solo player or a group of 2 to 4 competitors fight against an evil computer enemy known as Deep Jones.

The Advanced Version (where Deep Jones does not participate) is played according to more complex rules that require skilful planetary management: Investments in areas such as research, technological modernisation and defence must be balanced as to ensure adequate living conditions for the population.

The historical development of each match is registered in a log file, allowing for later analysis via line charts.

You can now play this game with a mouse on THEC64/THEC64 Mini and THEVIC20. Firmware v1.6.1 reads most or all USB mouses and trackballs as a 1351. The following CJM file should work:

T:Advanced Space Battle
A:More.Gore
X:64,pal,driveicon,fullheight
J:1M:
J:2*:
JU,JD,JL,JR,JF,JF,,,,,,,,,

I purchased a physical copy of this game when it came out, and now I purchased the download version.

Wow, thank you so much!

I always wanted a Space Empires game for the C64... Looks like my dream came true! I can't believe it's only $2..I threw in some extra for you guys. Keep up the excellent work, and if you make a cartridge version of this, I am definitely getting it.

Thanks mate, we definitely want to make a cartridge one day or another.

This is probably my most favourite Commodore C64 game ever. Even more so than Turrican.

I remember helping with the English translations for the manual - I think I'm still mentioned in the credits :-)

So nice to hear that :-)

is there any way to turn off auto saving on each turn's end ?
...or a way to utilize second drive for keeping save disk working ? which is the best way i think.

its better eliminate such backend process or its just annoying to play on this type of time consuming game.

Unfortunately, this is not possible. The game needs the saved data for calculations. The best thing to do right now is to get JiffyDos, it would speed up saving dramatically.

thanks for reply. i wanted to say disk swapping is annoying. so i asked second question.

and if the game was run from cart, is it possible to make save process transparent ?

What you refer to is not an actual auto-save. It's just storing a few numbers in the logfile. To avoid that, you need to start the game without a logfile. I.e., when it asks you for a logfile name, just hit Return.

hmm. thanks for an info. i finally could play without disk swapping.

Cheers

I agree with Petross: Great job, I love your game! It's really addicting and well made. I don't even own a C64 myself but find it just marvelous what interesting games you guys are able to realize on that platform.

Hey, thanks... *red cheeks*!

Great job guys. This is a fantastic game.

Thank you VERY much!

This one won't load on the Mini, any chance of a cartridge file being made?

We are working on cartridge files for most of our games, but we can't say when that'll become reality.

awesome sauce!
